Dear Junior,
I think your experience on the client side doing Marketing and Communications, gives you a unique perspective in that you are acutely aware of what the purpose of advertising, or more specifically, copywriting is.
As a potential employer, I would look at this experience as valuable time spent learning about the industry, the importance of brand consistency, the cadence of a creative department of which you are now a part, and how to conduct yourself in a business setting.
Even though your copywriting experience is relatively new, your business experience is deep. Which means you'll need less babysitting, you understand what a deadline is, and how to get work done.
Several account management, or client side people in our industry have gone on to have very successful careers on the creativity side.
So by all means, list it.
